Is Hostinger Better Than Bluehost? 2026 Real Prices
Hostinger and Bluehost judged on renewal prices instead of intro offers, with five year totals, migration friction, and exactly who each host is wrong for.
Quick answer: Yes, on five year cost. Hostinger Premium totals $275.40 over five years against $383.40 for Bluehost Starter, a $108 gap, on prices read 21 September 2026. Bluehost actually renews cheaper ($9.99 a month against $10.99), but Hostinger’s intro price runs for 48 months instead of 36. Pick Bluehost if you need 10 websites on the cheapest plan or will not prepay four years.
Both of these hosts sell the same promise to the same person: a first website, no server knowledge required, a price that looks like pocket change. Both also publish a number on the pricing page that you will stop paying within a few years.
So we ignored the intro price and did the only sum that decides anything: what each one costs over five years, once the discount has worn off.
Every figure below was read from Hostinger’s and Bluehost’s own pricing pages on 21 September 2026. Hosting prices move faster than almost anything else we track, so the date stamp is part of the answer.
The short answer
- Cheaper over five years: Hostinger, by $108 on the entry plan and $192 on the mid tier.
- Cheaper at renewal: Bluehost, by $1 a month on the entry plan and $3 a month on the mid tier.
- Those two statements are both true, and the reason is the term length, not the rate.
- Pick Hostinger if you will prepay 48 months and run three sites or fewer. Check Hostinger
- Pick Bluehost if you want 10 websites on the cheapest plan or refuse to commit four years up front. Check Bluehost

A note on how fast this moves. Our own web hosting renewal prices guide, published on 14 September 2026, recorded Hostinger Premium at an intro price of $1.99. One week later the same page showed $2.99. The renewal price did not budge. That is the pattern worth internalising: hosts move the number you see first and leave the number you pay longest alone.
Five years, in cash
You do not pay per month. You pay a lump sum for the term, then a bigger lump sum every year afterwards. So here is the actual cash out.
| Plan | You pay up front | That covers | Then per year | Five year total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hostinger Premium | $143.52 | 48 months | $131.88 | $275.40 |
| Bluehost Starter | $143.64 | 36 months | $119.88 | $383.40 |
| Hostinger Unlimited | $191.52 | 48 months | $203.88 | $395.40 |
| Bluehost Business | $251.64 | 36 months | $167.88 | $587.40 |
| Hostinger Cloud Startup | $383.52 | 48 months | $311.88 | $695.40 |
| Bluehost eCommerce Essentials | $539.64 | 36 months | $263.88 | $1,067.40 |
Look at the first two rows. $143.52 against $143.64. The opening cheque is the same to within twelve cents. One of them buys four years of hosting and the other buys three. That single year is where the entire $108 difference comes from, and no pricing page anywhere puts it next to the headline.
The mid tier gap is wider still. Hostinger Unlimited and Bluehost Business both give you 50 GB NVMe. Over five years one costs $395.40 and the other $587.40.
Bluehost actually renews cheaper, and nobody says so
The received wisdom is that Bluehost is the expensive one at renewal. On today’s published prices that is simply wrong.
| Plan | Intro to renewal | Multiple |
|---|---|---|
| Bluehost eCommerce Essentials | $14.99 to $21.99 | 1.5x |
| Bluehost Business | $6.99 to $13.99 | 2.0x |
| Bluehost Starter | $3.99 to $9.99 | 2.5x |
| Hostinger Cloud Startup | $7.99 to $25.99 | 3.3x |
| Hostinger Premium | $2.99 to $10.99 | 3.7x |
| Hostinger Unlimited | $3.99 to $16.99 | 4.3x |
Every Bluehost tier has a smaller jump than every Hostinger tier. Bluehost Starter renews a dollar a month below Hostinger Premium, and Bluehost Business renews three dollars a month below Hostinger Unlimited.
If you plan to sit on one host for a decade and never negotiate, Bluehost’s renewal rate is the better long run number on the entry plan. Hostinger’s advantage is front loaded into a longer discount. Which of those suits you depends on how long you expect the site to live, and that is a question only you can answer.
Migration friction is not the same on both
Both hosts use the word free. They are describing different things.
- Hostinger states plainly that it offers free unlimited website migration with no downtime, and that you request it from inside hPanel once you have bought a plan. A person does the move.
- Bluehost offers a free site migration tool, described on its own hosting page as a way to migrate your WordPress websites to Bluehost. You run it.
If you are moving a standard WordPress install, the difference is small. If you are moving something that is not WordPress, a hand built site, a Laravel app, a site with an unusual database setup, then a self service WordPress tool does not help you and a human migration team does. Our walkthrough of the whole process is in how to migrate a website to faster hosting, and it is worth reading before you buy either plan, not after.
Both offer a 30 day money back guarantee and one free domain for the first year, so on those two points there is nothing to choose between them.
Who Hostinger is wrong for
- You will not prepay 48 months. The $2.99 exists only on that term. Buy a shorter term and the arithmetic above stops applying entirely.
- You need more than three websites cheaply. Hostinger Premium caps at 3. Bluehost Starter gives you 10 for a dollar more at intro and a dollar less at renewal. For an agency parking client sites, that is the whole decision.
- You want the lowest possible renewal rate. You will not get it here. Bluehost does.
- You want NVMe on the cheapest plan. Hostinger Premium is listed as 20 GB SSD. Bluehost Starter is 10 GB NVMe. Less space, faster class of disk.
Who Bluehost is wrong for
- 10 GB is your entire allowance on Starter. A site with photography, a media library or a few years of uploads will hit that. Hostinger gives twice the space on the equivalent plan.
- Your discount runs out a year sooner. Same opening cheque, one less year of hosting.
- Your site is not WordPress. The free migration tool is described for WordPress sites.
- You care about five year cost more than monthly rate. On every comparable pairing, Bluehost costs more across five years.
A third option neither page mentions
Once the discount ends, the entry plans on both hosts settle at $9.99 to $16.99 a month. At that point a small VPS is the same money. Hostinger’s KVM 1 is $6.49 a month on a two year term and renews at $11.99, from its VPS page, read 21 September 2026.
So the honest framing is that the renewal price of shared hosting is roughly the ongoing price of a VPS. If your site has grown enough to care about speed, read shared vs VPS hosting before you renew anything, because renewing shared hosting at $16.99 while a VPS sits at $11.99 is the sort of thing that only happens on autopilot.
The verdict
Hostinger is better than Bluehost for most people, on cost, and the margin is $108 over five years on the entry plan. It is not better because it renews cheaply. It renews dearer. It is better because it locks the cheap price in for a year longer, and because its entry plan carries twice the storage.
Bluehost is the right answer for two specific people: the one who needs 10 sites on the cheapest plan, and the one who will still be on the same host in year eight and wants the lowest steady state rate.

Before you check out
Write the renewal price on a sticky note and put it on your monitor. Whichever host you pick, that is the number you will be paying for most of the time you own the site.
Then set a calendar reminder for one month before the term ends. Both hosts will happily auto renew you at full price, and both will usually do something about it if you ask before the charge lands rather than after.
